‘The finest kind of propaganda does not reveal itself; the best propaganda is that which works invisibly, penetrating into every cell of life in such a way that the public has no idea of the aims of the propagandists.’ (Goebbels)
Does this quote reflect the way in which propaganda was utilised within Nazi Germany?
This quote does reflect some of the ways in which the Nazis used propaganda to influence the people of Germany.
The use of radio and education are examples of propaganda that works “invisibly” as they are in the background of every day activities, therefore not so blatant. In this way, they become the norm and the views of the Nazis fiter through to the population.
However, the newspapers were covered in front to back propaganda which people grew tired of and stopped reading. This is an example of propaganda that didn’t necessarily work to the Nazis advantage. Posters also had the same in-your-face nature, which Germans also turned away from.
In film, blatant anti-seminism was definately not recieved well by the German nation. This form of propaganda actually had the oppisite affect to the one intended of the Nazis.
